Department of Material Culture
The Department of Material Culture conducts systematic research, documents, proposes, and determines the status of movable cultural assets. It engages in the collection, organization, preservation, as well as the expert and scientific processing of museum materials obtained through field research, excavations, purchases, donations, inheritance, exchanges, legacies, and copying. The department is also responsible for the systematic organization, preservation, and protection of professional and scientific documentation related to museum materials and movable cultural assets, with the publication of results from professional and scientific work. The activities of the department encompass the exhibition and interpretation of museum materials in permanent displays and thematic exhibitions, with the aim of advancing education and culture.
Department of Library and Publishing Activities
The Department of Library and Publishing Activities handles the systematic acquisition of scientific and professional literature in museology and other relevant fields represented in the Museum's collection. This literature primarily caters to the research needs of the Museum of Republika Srpska professional staff. Additionally, the department facilitates the exchange of literature, books, catalogues, and all publications with related museum institutions both domestically and internationally. Their responsibilities also encompass the protection of old and rare books that hold the status of cultural property and museum holdings according to the law. Finally, the department manages the Museum's publishing activities, including editing, design, and printing of museum publications.
